Young parkour traceurs in Mexico City: a new way to meaning and identity in urban spaces

Abstract The practice of parkour in urban spaces by young people, especially those who call themselves traceurs (“plotters”), illustrates how identities are formed an ephemeral way reinterpreting the city – briefly and without leaving a trace. However, sort paradox, these interventions registered socio-digital spectrum, tokenistically anchoring incorporating them into conversations social interactions. This work aims to explain sport called as socio-semiotic phenomenon. We have used some zones Mexico City specific case for our approach. foregoing leads conclusion that meaning goes beyond its recreational role places it relevant piece identity excluded groups even though practices been appropriated marketing strategies.
